Egypt’s Official Religious Institution Promotes Torture

Azhar is the state’s official religious institution of Egypt. Since it is the state’s religious institution, its stances echo the state’s.

In a review made by the Seventh Day newspaper, it mentioned that Nasr Farid Wasel, an ex-Azhar expounder, issued a fatwa that the violence of the Muslims Brotherhood deserves death or crucifixion!

I thought that humanity has overcome the times of the extreme torture and mutilation as punishments, and that the justice system aims at rehabilitation.

My Response to @ElderOfZiyon on Twitter about the Banned Egyptian Documentary about Jews

Update 2013/3/23: The director of the documentary wrote on his Twitter account, “march 27 jews of egypt finally out in movie theaters in Egypt”, also 2013/3/20; 2013/3/19: “It’s very nice that the censorship issues a statement that no authority of the National Security [apparatus] over the permit of the film, after a week of statements by them personally giving-over the responsibility to the security”.

Update 2013/3/15: “Elder of Zion” told me that he made an edit to his article. I’m happy that simple attempts to reach the others help in lessening the misunderstanding. :)

This is my response to a blogger who blogs under the name “Elder of Zion”, on his article, “Documentary about Egyptian Jews banned in Egypt”.

I attended the documentary when it was in the Panorama of the European Film, in Cairo, Egypt. At that time, 2012/10/6, the documentary was screened for a very limited time only, the cinema was overly crowded and only a third of attendees were able to get inside the cinema. Most attendees were Egyptians who were very happy with the documentary, as apparent from the symposium made after the end of the documentary. At the end of his article (now changed) he had generalized that [all] Egyptians are anti-Jewish. This was unfair and counter-reconciliatory. What he had wrote in the end, made me feel that the haters behind censorship do their job after asking us by democratic means, which is false. Have you heard about the Egyptian peace activist, Ahmed Meligy, who was arrested by the National Security, not by ordinary civilians, for promoting peace with Israel!?

The continuation to ignore peace activists and generalization of the bad, is very anti-peaceful and only contributes to more misunderstanding and makes the dream of true peace between Egyptians and Israelis much further.

The Potential Civil War in Egypt

Important update 2012/12/7: security forces are interrogating the peaceful protesters who were severely injured by the Islamist thugs (for example). They are being interrogated in the same style of the days after 2011/1/28, when peaceful protesters, people walking by or people who protected the streets after the police was ordered to evacuate the streets and thugs were sent to the streets, were prosecuted as thugs. That confirms to the oblivious, that the regime did not change, we are still living under the 1952 regime!

In 2012/12/5, hot spots in Cairo, downtown and Heliopolis, are in panic and without police or traffic police, yet meters away, it’s business as usual. That’s weirdly cool!

2012/12/5, close to Heliopolis, civilians took to streets with belts and sticks to protect their streets. Bringing back the memories of the beginning of from 2011/1/29 till a week or two after 2011/2/11! However, now I saw old men as well, not just youth.

I interpret what is happening nowadays in Egypt as a potential civil war. I’ve always expected it since the beginning of the year, 2012.

What Abdurrahman Ezz claimed about Heliopolis people aiding Islamist thugs is totally false :) The total opposite was happening. Witnesses even claim that all long-bearded men were verbally and physically attacked even by the homeless, after Islamists started attacking peaceful protesters!

Yasser Ali, a Humanitarian, was Wrongly Arrested and Needs Your Help!

Update: Yasser Ali was released on 21 May 2012.

Summary: Yasser Ali is a humanitarian who promotes non-violence, pacifism, peace and coexistence with the world. The army charged him of violence and he needs your help!
These are fragmented thoughts about the case. I would keep on editing the post.

(The Tree of Coexistence. He really loved this tree. It represents him totally.)

Yasser Ali is a humanitarian who promotes non-violence, pacifism, peace and coexistence with the world. He’s vegetarian, because he refuses killing animals for food. He’s the kind of guy who seems to be too good to be true, but he’s real.
I guarantee for anyone who would speak with him that he will never forget him.

Yasser works as a translator for the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (ANHRI).

Yasser didn’t hesitate for a moment to the calls of activists asking for first aid help for protesters of the ministry of defense.

(Yasser painting a house for children having cancer. Yasser described that day as one of his best days in his life. He enjoys doing humanitarian work.)

On his way out of the street hospital, after aiding the injured protesters who were injured by armed thugs, the thugs injured him and he became himself an injured.

Later, on Friday 2012/5/4, the army attacked the street hospital and detained everyone there. He was later on transferred to El Kobba military hospital, captivated and not allowed to move, without being allowed to inform any of his friends.

(Yasser speaking in one of the symposiums. He’s a staunch supporter and promoter for tolerance and knowing the other.)

Friends were so worried because his mobile phone was off and because of the vicious attacks they knew of from news and activists. After searching for him, they found him in the hospital. Later on, he was deported out of the hospital to an appeal prison.
Friends learned that the army framed-up charges for him such as, vandalism, attacking public facilities and blocking traffic! Adding up to the injustice, he was subjected to insults and other violations when he was forced to be interrogated, while injured, in the military court at C28, Nasr City.

How come Yasser is charged with violence! How come the injustice in Egypt has become very outrageous! Egypt is effectively a state of no law!
I really can’t stand those oblivious people who keep on claiming that the army protects peace and secularism! What happened to Yasser further more proves to you the opposite.

A Facebook page was made in solidarity with Yasser Ali, then was closed 4 days later. Another page was made.
